Come and see what is NEW at the Euclid Family YMCA!

A staff person is always on hand to monitor progress in the fitness room at the Euclid YMCA.

The Euclid Family YMCA has been undergoing a face-lift, inside and out. Over the past six months, we have renovated our fitness room with a wood floor, new paint and a sound system. We also renovated the classroom downstairs into an additional exercise studio. The inside of the building, as well as the outside, have received a new coat of paint, and we are currently in the process of renovating our conference room into a cycling studio.

Along with building changes, we also have some new faces at the YMCA. John Reid is the new executive director of the Euclid Family YMCA. John comes to us from Atlanta, Georgia with an extensive YMCA background. He is excited to be in Euclid and expand the services and programs that the Euclid YMCA has to offer. Chadi AbouHaidar is the new health and wellness director, Jacqueline Vogt is the new aquatics director and Gary Washington is the new youth sports director.

Our staff has implemented several new programs over the past few months. The YMCA currently offers a Teen Club and a Leaders Club for youth ages 11-17. This group will participate in social and service activities here at the Y and in the community. The group meets Monday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. Swim lessons are available for all ages.  We even offer a parent/child class for children ages six months to three years.  A new Aquatics Boot Camp class has joined our extensive list of pool activities, such as aquacise, aqua jog and water aerobics. We have expanded our Youth Sports program as well. We now offer basketball, T-ball, flag football, soccer, golf, gymnastics, and a Sports of All Sorts program which exposes youth to a variety of sport activities. Our Health and Wellness Department has added a Fitness-over-50 class, Pilates, line dancing and the ever popular ZUMBA! During the school year we also have child care for school-aged children. We accept county child care vouchers for our program.

The Euclid Family YMCA is also home to the Euclid Collaborative, which assists families and individuals by guiding them to services that are available in their community. The staff can serve as a liaison among neighborhood organizations, agencies, service providers and the residents of Euclid, Euclid-Green, Richmond Heights, Lyndhurst, South Euclid, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village and Gates Mills in need of these resources. Additionally, staff can help residents locate organizations to help in areas such as basic needs assistance, school advocacy, parent support groups, counseling referrals, foster/adoptive parent or relative, and caregiver support.

The Euclid Collaborative is hosting its annual Back to School Rally in August and is accepting donations of all sorts of basic school supplies. All donations will help our local Euclid school children. Those wishing to make a donation can drop off the school supplies at the Euclid YMCA.  If your agency or business would like a donation bin please contact Courtney Nicolai or Alicia Smith at (216) 731-7454. We also accept monetary donations.
