Parish festival a success

The publicity campaign promised food, music and fun – and the first Ss. Robert & William parish festival delivered on all three counts. The three-day event wrapped up on Sunday, Aug. 21 with a drawing for the grand prize of $10,000. The winner was Fr. Joe Goebel, who generously donated the money back to the parish. Second prize of $2,500 went to Bill O’Neill.

In his weekly message after the festival, Fr. John Betters, the pastor, declared the event a “great success,” adding that “It was such a joy to see people laughing, renewing old acquaintances, meeting new people, and so much more.” He also announced that the festival will return again next summer. In fact, the dates for 2012 have already been picked – Aug. 24-26.

In the meantime, the hard-working parish volunteers are now gearing up for another event involving food – a clambake Sept. 16.
