Message from the Mayor

One of the best parts of summer in Euclid is the many great events and gatherings that take place across the city.  I have been able to attend neighborhood block parties, parades and picnics that celebrate a holiday or just offer the chance to get together with neighbors and friends.  An ice cream social at the Euclid Public Library reminded me what a wonderful resource our library is- not only for books, movies, and music, but also for community discussion with our residents.  Our concerts at Sims Park offer the chance to spotlight our lakefront park (next concerts are August 10th and August 24th from 6-9pm) and community festivals, like Saints Robert and Williams community festival, offer the opportunity for their parish community to open the door to the broader community with games, music, food and fellowship.  National Night Out focuses on what we can do together to improve the safety of our community and strengthen the partnership between the police department and community.  Wednesdays on the Porch offer conversations among neighbors across the city.  Our recreation programs brings kids and their families together in our parks, pools, courts, or fields.  What makes a community is the relationships and connections we have to one another.  These community gatherings and events provide the opportunity to build those bonds and strengthen our community in multiple ways. Thanks to all those who work so hard to plan them and thanks to those who participate in them.  I look forward to the events scheduled in August and hope to meet you at one of them.

Happy Anniversary to Briardale Greens Golf Course.  On August 12th, Briardale Greens will celebrate it's 40th Anniversary.  There will be specials offered and activities to help celebrate this community asset.  I want to thank Billy Casper Golf for their partnership and for being good stewards of our community course.  We look forward to many more successful years to come.  While not much of a golfer, I did have the opportunity to play in the Euclid Chamber of Commerce golf outing in July and enjoyed the experience very much.  I encourage you to come out and play or at least visit Sticks Pub and Grille for something to eat.

The Cleveland Metroparks are celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year.  We are indeed fortunate to have Euclid Creek Reservation in our community and Euclid Beach Park/Wildwood nearby.  The Euclid Creek Reservation is used daily by our residents and others who want to walk, run, picnic, recreate, and enjoy the serene environment the reservation offers.  It is fascinating to watch the park change through the seasons and wonderful to see so many people take advantage of this community resource.  Happy Anniversary to the Metroparks, we look forward to the continued growth and partnership in the years to come.

Enjoy the remaining summer days and evenings. Enjoy the lake, our parks, a sunset, and take a few minutes to connect with your neighbors or friends.
