Mission Moment

Andrea  M. Harris Story

I started with the YMCA approximately five years ago. I had a couple of health issues that I needed to work on and get in control, which I pretty much accomplished at the YMCA. Last year, I was faced with a breast issue, which was hereditary. It was detected through a Mammogram.

I have been going to an oncologit for a year and a half (twice a year) being closely monitored for my condition. This past June 2017, I went for a follow-up and my physicians informed me that my condition was dissolving on its own with no medication needed. The doctor inquired about my health routine, and I explained to him that I have been a member of the YMCA for a period of time and that I have a daily/weekly exercise routine.

My doctor communicated to me that physicians have found through on-going research that a healthy diet and routine can actually demolish many health issues. He informed me to continue my diet and routine and if my results remain the same or have improved further by next June 2018, he would release me has a patient and no further follow up will be required.

Thank you YMCA for contributing to my cancer free and healthy lifestyle.
