EUCLID ART ASSOCIATION - UPCOMING ACTIVITIES....

Airbrushed acrylic by Don Wells

Monthly Meeting Demonstrations:  Held in Fellowship Hall of East Shore United Methodist Church, 23002 Lake Shore Blvd., Euclid, starting at 7:00pm.  Guests are welcome for a $3.00 donation.

Good News!  We rescheduled our March meeting presentation by Holly Queen Biss, a registered, board certified Art Therapist, for October 1, 2018.  The March meeting was cancelled, because the church, where we meet, had their furnace and elevator disabled due to a power outage.  We look forward to Holly’s presentation on “The Impact of Art Therapy” and “The Value of Creating Art as You Age” in October.

At our Monday, April 2, 2018 meeting, Euclid artist, Don Wells demonstrated Airbrush Techniques.  An airbrush is a small, air-operated tool that basically sprays paint on a surface by means of compressed air.  Don said that there are many, many uses for this technique, including airbrushed t-shirts, portraits, murals, custom motorcycle and car designs, hats and much more....all of which he does at Wells Creations in Euclid.  Don and his brother founded Wells Creations over 20 years ago.  It is located at 21936 Lakeshore Blvd just west of the Lake Shore Coffee House.

Then, on Monday, May 7, 2018, we are featuring award-winning, local watercolor artist and teacher, Flo Smith.  Flo will demonstrate “Watercolor in the Style of Nita Engle”.  Nita Engle, born 1926 in Michigan, is an American watercolor painter with a breakthrough approach to watercolor that combines spontaneity and control to produce glowing, realistic paintings.  Flo has studied this approach and will show us how it’s done.

The last meeting of the season, Monday, June 4, 2018, features the very popular, Members’ Art Critique night.  The artist, who will critique members’ art, will be announced in our June newsletter.  (Copies of all EAA newsletters can be found at the Euclid Library and on our website.)  Members are asked to bring only one picture to the evening’s critique.

Looking ahead to the start of our new season....September 10, 2018, Euclid Art celebrates 60 years!  The club was founded on November 12, 1958 by five ladies with a common interest in art.  We are planning an exceptional evening of art activities and EAA history.  There’ll be lots of refreshments and a special cake to celebrate our 60th anniversary.

 Fine Art Show:

The Euclid Art Association’s Annual Spring Fine Art Show at the Euclid Public Library is May 12 - 19, 2018.  Original artwork by local artists will be on display and for sale.  Plus, we will raffle off an original floral watercolor by award winning local artist, Cathy Welner.  A reception is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2018 , 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  We welcome the public.  Please join us!

 Scholarship Award:

On May 10, 2018, the Margaret E. Hain Art Scholarship will once again be awarded to a Euclid High School senior who plans to continue in the study of art.  Entry forms will be forthcoming through the school’s art teachers.

 Workshop:

On June 1, 2, 3, 2018, renowned artist, David Rankin is giving a workshop, “Coolest Watercolor Techniques...More Essential Training”, at the Euclid Art Gallery.  David Rankin is one of the world’s top professional watercolor painters and he’s a good friend of Euclid Art.  There are still openings in this workshop.  For more details and how to register, visit our website, EuclidArt.com, click on the Workshops page or contact Sue Herrle at 216-481-5105.
