LCA: Join in June

The Lakeland Civic Association begins its annual membership renewal drive in the month of June. It organizes events and activities throughout the year. LCA will hold its main business meeting of the year on June 7th at 7:30 at the Wickliffe Public Library when it will elect officers and plan upcoming events. LCA's annual yard sale is first to come. It has set the date for Saturday, June 19th.

LCA represents a Euclid neighborhood developed in the fifties by F&S Homes. The association formed shortly afterward and sustained a core of active owners and residents ever since.

Secretary Kevin Jones will preside at the June 7 meeting. He has prepared a detailed newsletter listing the many agenda items he and other LCA officers will put forward and on which attending members will act. Unlike its other quarterly meetings that typically  feature guest speakers and city dignitaries, on June 7th the association will elect its officers for the coming year and will establish committees to organize its major yearly events, including this year a possible block party in August.

Among its other neighborhood events, LCA hosts a holiday decoration contest, a tour of the neighborhood by elves and a childrens' gift-bearing Santa along with an always warm happy Christmas party. An LCA garden club beautifies the area by maintaining common areas with suitable flora and foliage. On July 4th, LCA mounts a festive bicycle parade that grows and grows as it threads its way along the neighborhood streets within the area of 272nd, Forestview Ave, and Walnut Drive.

LCA regular meetings are open to all.

Kevin Jones

Secretary for Lakeland Civic Association
