As a kid, did you ever peer inside a kaleidoscope? If so, can you recall your fascination with the designs and colors? Or, did you spend hours sifting through odd objects to create a fort or a lemonade stand? Perhaps you spent your time creating costumes and acting out imaginary stories. Or did you spend hours riding your bike, practicing sports or hanging out with friends? If not, you may be able to recall a brief time when you felt safe, relaxed or content.

I like to think of these moments as sparkler-events. You have creativity within you. Even though circumstances may cause you to dim your self-perception. In times of hopelessness, you need to tap into your resilience to pick yourself up and push forward. In the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid theory, the top level is called, “Actualizing”. There are various interpretations of the Hierarchy of Needs pyramid. However, the interpretation I embrace equates the top of the pyramid as your highest sense of being. It is the space or experience of celebrating who you are, when you are at your very best. To rise above your challenges, it is essential that you thrive with a sense of genius no matter what you do for a living or in what circumstance you find yourself. It is the essence of your determination and vision that will propel you to realize your goals.

There may come a time when your goals seem distant or even impossible. When you feel discouraged it’s time to ramp up your sparkle-factor. Be brilliant and fearless in your vision pursuit. Celebrate each phase of your life as you stretch toward your dreams.
